The Bucs have officially started adding players as rosters expand for the offseason, with seven players signed to futures contracts for 2015, including five promoted from the team's practice squad.
Those five, who are now on the team's roster and can participate fully in team activities, are defensive tackle Matt Masifilo, offensive lineman Matt Patchan (Armwood/Gators), offensive lineman Jeremiah Warren (USF), safety Shelton Johnson and receiver Chandler Jones. The team signed two new players as well in former Northern Colorado quarterback Seth Lobato and former Boca Ciega and Bethel safety Jocquel "Joc" Skinner.
The team is still expected to sign former Nevada punter Chase Tenpenny to a futures contract as well. Practice-squad cornerback Varmah Sonie told the Times that the Bucs had released him. The team's initial signings do not include quarterback Mike Kafka, who was on the practice squad or active roster all season as the team's No. 3 quarterback for 2014.
Skinner, who played small-school football in Tennessee at NAIA Bethel, had worked out for the Bucs at their pre-draft local workout. He signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted rookie in May but was waived-injured in June.
