Bucs sign Packers TE Crabtree

When the Green Bay Packers failed to tender restricted free agent tight end Tom Crabtree, it didn't go unnoticed.

Several teams had an interest in signing the former Miami-Ohio product and the Buccaneers accomplished that late Friday night.

As first reported by the Green Bay Press Press-Gazette, Crabtree has become the latest free agent to join the Bucs. Terms of the contract were unavailable.

Crabtree, 27, had eight receptions for 203 yards and three touchdowns last season for the Packers. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009 and spent the final five weeks of the regular season on the Packers practice squad. In three seasons, Crabtree has 18 receptions for 302 yards and four touchdowns.

Starting tight end Dallas Clark is an unrestricted free agent and may opt to play elsewhere. The Bucs were impressed by the late-season play of tight end Luke Stocker but need to add experience at the tight end position.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Crabtree is the second offensive player the Bucs have signed as a free agent this week. The team added former Cowboys receiver Kevin Ogletree on Thursday.
