First-time homebuyers in Pasco, Hillsborough could get help with down payments, closing costs

Florida Housing Financing Corp. is relaunching a program that provides up to $15,000 for eligible first-time homebuyers.

Are you a first-time homebuyer in Pasco, Hillsborough, Osceola, Clay or Duval counties? If so, you may be eligible for help with a downpayment and closing costs when the Florida Housing Financing Corp. relaunches its Hardest Hit Fund Downpayment Assistance Program March 4. The program will provide up to $15,000 for eligible buyers and is forgivable over five years.

From 2010 to early last year, Florida Housing disbursed more than $1 billion in federal funds through foreclosure prevention and downpayment assistance programs. It is now using approximately $20 million in repayments to the Hardest Hit Fund to assist additional Floridians.

"Statistics show that foreclosures have drastically decreased in Florida and that our state has recovered from the housing crisis,'' said Trey Price, executive director of Florida Housing. "This funding will further assist with the continued stabilization of recovering, distressed neighborhoods.'' For more information, go to https://floridahousing.org/
