Florida gas prices are at their lowest since August 2017.

The state averaged $2.33 a gallon Monday, down 9 cents over the week, according to AAA, the Auto Club Group. Tampa Bay area gas prices were $2.17 a gallon Monday, down 8 cents over the week. Nationally, gas was $2.46 a gallon.

The main source of the drop, AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said, is a glut of oil.

"Oil prices sank to 14-month lows because there's so much oil in the global market and not enough demand to absorb it," he said in a release. "(The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) and Russia hope to change that."

The two will meet Thursday to talk about cutting back production to boost oil prices.
