A Plant City man was killed in a crash Saturday night in Brandon in what is suspected to be a drunk driving accident. Jesse Lamar Wood, 25, was driving westbound on State Road 60 when he rear-ended a Hillsborough County Sheriff's vehicle just after 2 a.m. Sunday, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

He fled the scene of the accident, officials said. Driving north on Limona Street at about 50 miles per hour, Wood lost control of his 2010 Hyundai Elantra, which rolled onto its side. Wood was not wearing a seat belt and died the scene.

"Alcohol is considered a factor in this crash," the sheriff's office said.

Sgt. James Jackson, who was in the rear-ended sheriff's vehicle, was not injured in the accident.
