TAMPA — Developer Ken Stoltenberg's Mercury Advisors this week sold the downtown Publix now under construction at the corner of E Twiggs Street and N Meridian Avenue to the supermarket chain for nearly $7.7 million, according to a deed recorded on Thursday.

Publix spokesman Brian West said in an email Friday that the company hopes the 37,600-square-foot store will open in the second quarter of next year, "but we're too far out for a specific date."

The store is being built alongside a 21-story apartment tower known as the Channel Club.
