Gas prices are at their highest for 2019 thanks to routine seasonal maintenance. Tampa Bay gas prices shot up 14 cents over the week at $2.31 per gallon Monday, while Florida gas prices averaged $2.34 per gallon Monday, up 11 cents over the week, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group. Despite the hike, state prices are 18 cents lower than this time last year.

"Gas prices rose as predicted last week due to crude price gains and oil refineries conducting seasonal maintenance," said Mark Jenkins, AAA spokesman, said. Jenkins expect prices to continue to rise over the coming months as more expensive summer-blend gas is introduced.

Nationally, gas averaged $2.40 per gallon Monday.
