TAMPA — Aldi plans to unveil its latest renovated store on 8521 W Hillsborough Ave. in Town 'N Country on Thursday.

The store is one more than 40 stores that have been remodeled so far in Florida. Aldi has plans to spend $115 million to update a total of 83 Florida stores by the end of 2020. It's part of a broader plan to expand and remodel more than 1,300 stores nationally by the end of next year.

"Remodeling and expanding our stores gives us more room for our refreshed product selection," Matt Thon, Haines City division vice president for Aldi, said in a statement. "We know our customers want more fresh and convenient options, and by renovating our stores, we are able to provide new products as well as more of their favorites."

Aldi has more than 1,800 stores across the country. The Tampa store's new layout features added refrigeration space to hold more fresh produce and organic products. There are new high ceilings and increased natural lighting. The store will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and until 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Shoppers who went to check out the updated store can attend the 8:35 a.m. ribbon-cutting Thursday, followed by a "golden ticket" gift card giveaway to the first 100 shoppers.
