Women's retailer Charlotte Russe going out of business

Troubled women's retailer Charlotte Russe announced on Thursday it is going out of business, a month after filing for bankruptcy.

In a post on its website, the company said it is ceasing online sales and that merchandise is now on sale at its brick-and-mortar stores.

The chain has several locations in the Tampa Bay area, including Westshore Plaza, Westfield Countryside, Westfield Citrus Park Mall, Westfield Brandon Town Center, Tyrone Square Mall and the Shops at Wiregrass, and Gulf View Square Mall.

The retailer, which according to a news release specializes in "affordable on-trend apparel" for young women, filed for Chapter 11 relief on Feb. 3. It maintained more than 500 stores primarily in malls and outlet centers across the U.S., Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The company also established Peek Kids in 2016, specializing in children's clothing.
