American Idol alum Constantine Maroulis says he is living in fear after an altercation with his daughter's mother, Angel Reed.

Following his domestic violence arrest on Wednesday, the 39-year-old singer filed for and was granted a temporary restraining order against Reed, saying he was the victim in an argument that became physical at Maroulis's home in Wyckoff, N.J.

"He has injuries on his upper thigh," his rep told People. "He was trying to be a nice guy because he is the father of their child and he became the victim."

Reed claimed the Tony-nominated actor kicked her in the groin. Maroulis is claiming self-defense. He filed paperwork with local police in July saying Reed had been abusing him.

Maroulis's rep says he has heard a recording of the altercation in which Reed allegedly swung at Maroulis.

"He says, 'I want to break up with you, don't hit me, leave me alone, don't touch me.' "

TMZ obtained the court documents in which Maroulis claims Reed kicked in the door of his Jaguar and left a wake of destruction at his home, destroying his artwork, flat screen and an array of memorabilia. The docs also say Reed is a heavy drinker who is related to criminals, which has led Maroulis to fear for his and his daughter's safety.

The couple dated for six years until Maroulis recently called things off, which reportedly led to the fight. The pair are parents to a 4-year-old.
