The sordid saga of Modern Family actress Ariel Winter has taken another turn, this time because her father, Glenn Workman filed a petition to oppose a guardianship for his 14-year-old daughter. We were wondering when we would hear from her dad about this.
Glenn Workman said in the hearing that he objected the idea of his daughter living with her adult sister, Shanelle Gray, because he says Shanelle is trying to drive a wedge between Ariel and her parents. He says that while Ariel is being kept from her mother, Chrisoula Workman for alleged physical and mental abuse, he is able to care for her, the AP reports.
The filing doesn't address the allegations against his estranged wife -- he had signed a statement before saying they were untrue -- but Glenn does acknowledge his relationship with Ariel isn't what it could be. He also says he doesn't need her acting money to care for her.
"I want to provide for her a calm loving home environment that is a retreat from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood; a place where she can think and relax without any distractions," the filing reads. "This whole situation has turned into a circus and places Ariel in a position she should not have to be in. I ask this court to allow me the chance to function as a healthy parent and help Ariel through this ordeal."
Strange how none of this came up until now. Perhaps he was busy trying to figure out what percentage of his daughter's money he could take and still call it necessary for essential living expenses. It doesn't matter anyway: The judge extended Shanelle's guardianship to at least Dec. 12, when another hearing has been scheduled.
