The once-proud Beverly Hills Cop franchise is about to gamble its image on Brandon T. Watson, who has been cast in the role of Axel Foley's son for a planned TV series. And by "once-proud," I'm obviously only referring to the first movie; those two sequels were criminal offenses.
If you're wondering where you've seen Watson before, it's probably from Tropic Thunder, where he planed "Alpa Chino." Deadline.com says Eddie Murphy is a big fan of Watson, who like Murphy has his roots in stand-up comedy.
As for the actual plot of the TV show? "The series centers on Axel's blue-collar police officer son, Aaron (Jackson), who helps take down the criminal elements of the rich and famous in Beverly Hills while trying to escape the shadow of his larger-than-life father," Deadline says. "Murphy will reprise his role as Axel in the pilot and may recur if the pilot goes to series."
