Dropkick Murphys coming to Jannus Live in St. Petersburg

Published Nov. 19, 2012

Here's a question I used to ask people: If you could pick any Irish or Celtic band to play your St. Patrick's Day party, who would it be? Flogging Molly? U2? The Corrs? The Pogues? Jedward?

There are all excellent choices (well, okay, maybe not Jedward). But these days, one of the top vote-getters might be the Dropkick Murphys, the New England Celtic punks best known for The Departed's anthem I'm Shipping Up To Boston. After headlining Fenway and performing with Springsteen, they're clearly in demand all over the country every March.

So we're gettin' the tingles thinking about their just-announced show on March 3 at Jannus Live. Tickets are $30. Click here.

Given how raucous the band's sold-out Ritz Ybor shows have been in recent years, we expect this to be a good one. They've always had a ton of support in Tampa Bay. Let us not forget that Dunedin Brewery actually has a beer named for, and approved by, the band, Dropkick Murphys Erin Red Ale.

Oh, and we're still interested in hearing answers to our St. Patty's Day band question. Leave your suggestions in the comments. First person to say The Proclaimers wins the Internet. Go.
