Florida coach Will Muschamp said today that starting QB Jeff Driskel will play in Saturday's game at Florida State, but to what extent and how effective he'll be able to compete remains to be seen.
Driskel, who sprained his right ankle against Louisiana-Lafayette on Nov. 10, did not play in this past Saturday's game against Jacksonville State.
Muschamp said Driskel worked out on Sunday, but will not practice today. He'll return to practice on Tuesday.
"What will be his percentage? I don't know right now, I know that's going to get asked,'' Muschamp said. "We will not practice him today. He will practice tomorrow. He probably could practice today, but in talking to (athletic trainer) Anthony Pass, we felt like it would be best for him to have treatment today. We're not going to be on the field very long today, we'll be in helmets only as we work in. But he will play in the game. To what degree? Again, the week will determine that on how his health continues to improve."
If Driskel is unable to play the entire game, backup Jacoby Brissett will be available. Brissett played in last season's game against Florida State and said he believes that experience could benefit the Gators this weekend.
