CF B.J. Upton, a free-agent after declining the Rays one-year $13.3-million qualifying offer, spent several hours Thursday in Atlanta visiting with Braves officials, mlb.com reported.
Upton is set to leave after spending his entire career with the Rays, in line for a big bucks offer of around $75-million over five years.
The Braves, according to mlb.com, have made Upton their top free agent target, and GM Frank Wren and manager Fredi Gonzalez were both at the meeting. The Phillies and Nationals are said to be interested as well.
