Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin Beckner has attracted another Republican opponent. Don Kruse, who has run unsuccessfully for county commission three times previously, including for Beckner's at-large District 6, announced his intention to challenge the incumbent Monday. Kruse, 52, a former car salesman who now runs a beauty school with his wife, said in a news release that he plans to focus on economic development. "We need to take steps now to ensure a vibrant economic future for Hillsborough County and its residents, with strong leadership in economic development and by creating a climate that helps businesses thrive and expand," he said. Kruse ran in 2006 and 2008 for County Commission. He filed to run in 2010 but withdrew from the race before the Republican primary. Republican Margaret Iuculano is also challenging Beckner. A third, Steve Cona, recently dropped out of the race.
