Ozomatli announced as first headliner at 2013 Gasparilla Music Festival

You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who wouldn't call the inaugural Gasparilla Music Festival a smashing success. Even that day, concertgoers were speculating how the event might grow in its second year.

Over the next few weeks, we'll find out. Details are beginning to trickle out about the second Gasparilla Music Festival, scheduled for March 9 at four stages in and around Curtis Hixon Park, including the first headliner: Ozomatli. The Latin folk-rock-pop collective will play two shows at GMF '13, a headlining set and a kid-friendly set earlier in the day on the Kiley Gardens stage, which will be part of a family-friendly area organizers are calling a "children's festival-within-the-festival," featuring arts, crafts, games and more.

Many more acts will be announced, but early bird tickets are already on sale for just $20. VIP tickets, featuring a posh lounge, plus drinks and snacks, are $75.

Organizers say more acts will be unveiled soon, with an official lineup announcement party sometime around the beginning of the year. Even then, we'd expect more acts to be added closer to March -- remember, headliner Ra Ra Riot was a late add in 2012.
