Actress Rooney Mara is really using her exposure in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo to her advantage, since word is she's replacing Blake Lively in Steven Soderbergh's Side Effects. Why, just because there have been rumors the film's financial backing was falling apart because Blake was the star? Imagine that.
Deadline.com says Mara will be playing Emily Hawkins, a prescription drug addict who goes on a bender before her husband is released from prison. The movie also will star Jude Law, Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta-Jones. It is slated to begin shooting in April, the site says.
Megan Ellison's Annapura Pictures production company backed out of the project last week for unknown reasons, Variety reported, but it's been widely speculated the Gossip Girl star was the reason. Maybe now Soderbergh will be able to finance the thing, because it sounds like a really joyful, heartwarming family film.
