For starters, Rays vs. Mariners

Update 6:14 p.m. Manager Joe Maddon said RF Matt Joyce is feeling much better, though he said he's going to have to monitor him throughout the weekend while playing on the Trop turf. Joyce came off the disabled list (back and oblique strains) Tuesday, and was out of Thursday's lineup due to being stiff and sore. Maddon doesn't believe it will linger past the homestand.

*Maddon said OF Sam Fuld (right wrist surgery) could be back before the maximum-length rehab stint (20 days), an indication he may join the team next week on the road trip.

*Though LF Desmond Jennings is the Rays leadoff hitter, and will get back to that spot, the fact CF B.J. Upton has hit so well atop the order in recent days makes it easier for Maddon not to rush Jennings back. Maddon really likes what Jennings has done in the seventh spot, setting the table, and improving his strike zone.

Developing: The Rays, having split a four-game series with the Indians, will open up a three-game set with the Mariners tonight at Tropicana Field.

They'll have RF Matt Joyce back in the lineup, one day after he was "stiff and sore," having just come off the disabled list (back and oblique strains). C Jose Molina will get his second straight start behind the plate, coming off a strong Wednesday game in which he stole a base, threw out a runner and picked up a couple hits.

On the opposing side, ex-Ray C John Jaso will hit cleanup for the Mariners.
