Sept. 2: Labor Day. Schools closed.

Oct. 11: End of first grading period.

Nov. 11: Schools closed.

Nov. 25-29: Thanksgiving week. Schools closed.

Dec. 2: Students return to school.

Dec. 20: End of first semester.

Dec. 23-Jan. 3: Winter break. Schools closed.

Jan. 6: Schools closed for students.

Jan. 7: Students return to school.

Jan. 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Schools closed.

Feb. 7: No school. Students are off for the Florida State Fair.

Feb. 17: Presidents' Day. Schools closed.

Mar. 2: No school. Students are off for the Strawberry Festival.

Mar. 13: End of third grading period.

Mar. 16-20: Spring break. Schools closed.

Mar. 23: Students return to school.

April 10: Schools closed.

April 20: Schools closed.

May 25: Memorial Day. Schools closed.

May 29: Last day of school, end of second semester.

Early release days: One-hour early release every Monday with the following exceptions: Oct. 14, Oct. 21, Oct. 28, Nov. 4, Nov. 18, Dec. 2, Dec, 9, Dec. 16.

  7. The Florida Department of Education has approved another alternate assessment for third graders to demonstrate they read at or above grade level.
    The state also reminds schools to let those who struggle that scholarships for help are available.
