Smokey Bones preps Burger Battle

Published Jun. 25, 2012

Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill, which has locations in Brandon, Citrus Park and Clearwater, is giving diners a chance to scarf down custom burgers for a $2,500 cash prize. The restaurant's second annual Burger Battle will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at each location. Forty contestants will build a half-pound burger (with brisket or pulled pork topping plus cheese, a specialty sauce and more), and the fastest eaters advance. The top 10 at each restaurant will compete for a $200 Smokey Bones gift certificate and be entered in competition with eaters at other Smokey Bones nationwide. The fastest eater in the nation will win $2,500. The entry fee is $10, with a portion of the proceeds going toward Homes for Our Troops. For info, see —Jay Cridlin
