Things to do in Tampa Bay for Nov. 16

Published Nov. 15, 2012

Tampa's Downtown on Ice: It's supposed to cool off a bit this weekend (low 70s!), so it's a perfect time to welcome this year's outdoor ice skating rink in downtown Tampa. Try a 90-minute skating session, including skate rental, for $10 starting at 4 p.m. at Curtis Hixon Park in Tampa. (813) 966-5505.

Enchanted Tree Lighting Ceremony: Hyde Park Village shows some holiday spirit, too, at this event that celebrates the arrival of Santa and the lighting of their Christmas tree. There are also train rides, entertainment, arts and crafts, a bounce house and visits with Santa in his cottage. It starts at 5 p.m. at Hyde Park Village, 1621 W Snow Circle, Tampa. Free. (813) 251-3500. Dan McMillion and High Octane: The Grammy-nominated group plays a free jazz concert at 5 p.m. in the village. Free.

Drumline Live: The world-class drum line and brass section trace the music of historically black colleges as they pound out a collection of hip-hop, R&B, Motown and top 40. It starts at 7:30 p.m. at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. $25-$50. (727) 791-7400.

MOSI After Dark: The museum hosts an after-hours event with discounted admission, a food truck rally outside, DJ music, games and access to the Sky Trail Ropes Course. It starts at 6 p.m. at Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa. Activities are free, $10 exhibit admission. (813) 987-6000.

To watch

We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston, 10 p.m., CBS Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Usher, Yolanda Adams and CeCe Winans are in a special taped last month. Just record it and fast-forward to the clip of her singing the Star-Spangled Banner at Tampa's Super Bowl XXV.

Get Roasted, the 13 Ugly Men Thanksgiving Eve party, will be at the Grand Central at Kennedy, the courtyard of the Channelside district at 1120 E Kennedy Blvd., Tampa. An incorrect location was listed Thursday's Weekend section.
