Gerber begins search for its next 'spokesbaby'

What's sure to be an abundance of adorableness has started once again as Gerber announced its search for the next "spokesbaby."

The baby food chain is asking parents or guardians to submit their recent and favorite photo of their child, from birth to 4 years old, on Instagram under the hashtag #GerberPhotoSearch2018 through Oct. 20.

The winner of the contest will be featured on all of Gerber's social media channels and the family will win $50,000.

Tampa Bay should be uniquely familiar with the Gerber baby since the original face of the titular brand calls the area home. Ann Cook Taylor, 92, is a retired English teacher and mystery novelist who was the subject of the famous charcoal sketch that dons the baby food products.

The famous sketch was made by Taylor's family friend and she didn't reveal that she was the subject until 40 years after the company had begun to use the image.

Taylor met with last year's winner, Lucas Warren, while the family was on vacation in the area. Warren, who at the time was 1 year old, was the first baby with Down syndrome to win the contest. Warren will be one of the honorary judges of this year's competition, the company announced in a statement.

To enter the photo search, upload and post the picture of your little one with #GerberPhotoSearch2018 on Instagram. For official rules, visit Gerber's official site.
