Baxter is a sweet, 11-year-old Lhasa apso mix. He is a bit hard of hearing and has difficulties seeing, but is a healthy dog for his age. Baxter has a silly personality and loves to have his belly rubbed. He enjoys the company of other dogs and people. Baxter is currently in foster care, and is neutered, microchipped and current on all his age-appropriate vaccinations. Inquiries about adopting Baxter or other dogs and cats can be made at the Humane Society of the Nature Coast shelter at Wiscon and Mobley roads, Brooksville. Visiting hours at the shelter are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The shelter is having a special on senior dogs through the month of October; adoption fees for senior dogs are $50. The adoption fees are $100 for all other dogs, $40 for adult cats and $65 for kittens. Fees cover the costs for all vaccinations, spay/neuter and microchipping. For information, call (352) 796-2711.
