Obviously not everything sexy about Tampa Bay is bad news. Former resident Channing Tatum was named Wednesday as People magazine's 2012 Sexiest Man Alive. The choice won't be argued by anyone who saw Magic Mike, inspired by Tatum's stint as a male stripper in Tampa after graduating from Tampa Catholic High School in 1998. Proving he's more than a hot body, Tatum, 32, also starred in the comedy 21 Jump Street and the romantic drama The Vow. Tatum spoke with the Tampa Bay Times in June, and his chances of being named Sexiest Man Alive came up. "Man, that thing... Look it's an honor if it happens but for me it's a bit arbitrary," Tatum said, laughing off the notion. "If you have a movie coming out people like you. If you have a bad movie come out people don't like you so much. That thing is more about who's having a moment, who's having that time in their career that's really good. It's usually the Georges and the Brads, people like that." And now the Channings, it would appear.
