Fennelly: 1-0 comes around only once; enjoy it, Bucs fans

Welcome to Overreaction Monday.

This will be a weekly installment.

There is no force in sports more powerful than a season-opening win in an NFL city. Especially a win-starved NFL city.

Go crazy, Bucs fans.

It never lasts, but go crazy.

Your team is astride the NFC South.

It's Thanksgiving, Christmas and Bucs 31, Flacons 24 rolled into one.

You can't stop the buzz. I saw dogs hugging cats.

It's a new birth of Bucs freedom, with Dirk Koetter as Abraham Lincoln.

One week in, Jameis Winston is league MVP and Kwon Alexander is Defensive Player of the Year.

Welcome to Overreaction Monday.

Thanks to Sunday's win, and the Panthers and Saints both losing by a single point, the Bucs are alone atop the NFC South for the first time in like nine years.

Think about that. And go crazy.

Twitter exploded after Sunday's win. Radio lines are jammed.

Can early drafts of the Super Bowl parade route be far behind?

Pass through downtown St. Pete, pause at Robert Ayers Park, circle Mike Evans Elementary School, continue to Lavonte David Youth Sport Complex, travel to pier, board flotilla for trip across Bay to Tampa. Go straight up Jaboomeis Winston Boulevard, past the Miko Grimes School of Mass Communication, past Austin Seferian-Jenkins obelisk, to Tampa City Hall for Key to the City ceremony.

Note: The route is subject to change.

The seething Arizona Cardinals, losers to the Brady-less, Gronk-less Patriots, await the Bucs.

We will be overreacting some more next Monday, probably in the opposite direction.

But this was this Monday.

It reminded us that, Lightning and Rays or no, there's nothing like the excitement generated in a football town by its football team winning.

Every Bucs player was promised a game ball by Dirk Koetter after Sunday's game.

It gets better. I can't say for sure, but there is talk that the Glazers are thinking about giving EVERYONE IN TAMPA BAY a game ball if the Bucs beat the Cardinals.

Yes, it will cost millions, but that's how much they love us.

Go crazy, folks.

I know I have.

1-0 comes around only once.

Anyone up for Overreaction Tuesday?
