WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump should not just release the "memo," but do so in dramatic fashion tonight at the State of the Union, says Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz.
"Tomorrow, the President of the United States will walk down the center aisle and address this floor," the Panhandle Republican said on the House floor Monday. "I hope the first thing he does is hand to the Speaker of the House his consent and his agreement to allow transparency to reign, to declassify this memo, and put it before the American people. And then let's have a great debate about its consequences and the opportunity it presents to make things better, so these things never happen again."
Gaetz has been a leading conservative voice calling on the release of the memo, which details alleged anti-Trump bias by the FBI.
Yesterday, Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee voted to release the memo, giving Trump five days to decide whether to declassify it, something the Justice Department has warned against.
