WASHINGTON – Sen. Bill Nelson used his Moving America Forward PAC to prop up fellow Senate candidates, including Amy Klobuchar and Tammy Baldwin, while ramping up money on fundraising consulting.
The PAC, which reported its year-end figures on Wednesday, raised in $143,000 from July 1 to Dec. 31. It spent $110,000, and ended the year with $43,000 in the bank.
Donors include PACS for Facebook and Google, 21st Century Fox, American Bankers Association, and individuals such as Albert Maury of Leon Medical Centers, Howard Kessler of Kessler Financial Services and Ian MacKechnie of Amscot Financial.
Candidates and groups receiving Nelson money:
Bob Casey ($5,000); Democratic Executive Committee of Florida ($5,000); Joe Donnelly ($5,000); Chris Murphy ($2,500); Klobuchar ($2,500); Bob Menendez ($5,000); Nevada Senate candidate Jacky Rosen ($2,500) Tammy Baldwin ($5,000); and Sheldon Whitehouse ($5,000).
Nelson's spending was on bank fees and other costs, plus fundraising consulting by Pete Mitchell ($4,000) and compliance consulting by Jennifer Mitchell (about $13,000). The Mitchells are not related.
