WASHINGTON – Sen. Marco Rubio on Saturday suggested Kim Jong Un is trying to play President Donald Trump, saying it's "more likely" the effort is designed to make the North Korean leader appear reasonable and undermine both U.S. Pacific alliances and support for international sanctions.

Rubio, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, has been nuanced his reaction to the blockbuster news that Trump had agreed to a meeting, not outright criticizing the idea.

But he certainly sounds skeptical. Rubio's remarks Saturday recap a critical Wall Street Journal editorial that said Trump "is giving recognition before any nuclear concessions."
