Gov. Rick Scott is making the local party rounds.
The Hillsborough County GOP announced that Scott will headline its annual Lincoln Day Dinner on May 19. The May event in Hillsborough will also feature Attorney General Pam Bondi and Congressmen Dennis Ross, Gus Bilirakis and Vern Buchanan.
“We proudly welcome party leaders and sponsors to showcase our Republican values,” Hillsborough County Republican Party Chairman Jim Waurishuk said in a release.
The announcement comes just a few days after Scott served as the keynote speaker at the Pinellas County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner.

TAMPA, FL - The Hillsborough County Republican Party is pleased to announce plans for hosting the 2018 Lincoln Day Dinner. The dinner is an annual fundraising event for Hillsborough County Republicans. This year’s theme is “Let Freedom Ring”.
“Every year we celebrate our annual Lincoln Day Dinner, which has earned the reputation as the most lavish and exciting annual Republican political event in Hillsborough County,” said Hillsborough County Republican Party Chairman, Jim Waurishuk. “Through this tradition named after Abraham Lincoln, we remember the life and legacy he provided our country. Our party is about freedom, emancipation and prosperity. We would do well not to ignore the unique heritage of the Republican Party and its first President.“
The Keynote Speaker for the banquet will be Florida Governor Rick Scott. Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Attorney General Pam Bondi. Also speaking at the dinner will be Congressmen Dennis Ross, Gus Bilirakis and Vern Buchanan, who represent portions of Hillsborough County in the United States House of Representatives.
The dinner, scheduled for May 19 at the TPepin’s Hospitality Centre, Tampa, will begin promptly at 6 PM with a reception and silent auction, featuring significant local and historical items of interest. Dinner will begin at 7 PM. A live auction will also be held during the event.
“The Republican Party is experiencing renewed energy and optimism, and our Lincoln Day Dinner will reflect that outlook. We proudly welcome party leaders and sponsors to showcase our Republican values,” Waurishuk said.
The Hillsborough County Republican Executive Committee is a subset of the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF). Members are elected officials from their precincts, and pursuant to state law, takes a loyalty oath to uphold.
