St. Petersburg Times: CHAMBER ENDORSES MCCOLLUM IN PRIMARY
…."Our state is at a crossroads. We've never been at a time where public service is more important and more meaningful to all Floridians," Helverson said, calling McCollum, the "right man at the right time."
Nearly two months later, of course, Rick Scott won the nomination over career politician McCollum.
From the Putnam campaign's press release about the endorsement:
"Adam Putnam is the leader Florida needs to keep Florida's momentum going. Adam Putnam knows Florida best, and I know without a doubt he believes in free enterprise and economic opportunity for every single Floridian," said Mark Wilson, President and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. "Adam Putnam believes in Florida and the Florida Chamber believes in Adam Putnam."
The announcement was made at a press conference in Orlando. Mark Wilson and Adam Putnam were joined by former Speaker of the Florida House and Chair of the Florida Chamber Political Council, Will Weatherford, as well as former Chair of the Florida Chamber Board of Directors and member of the Florida Chamber Board of Directors, Tracy Duda Chapman.
"He is a leader that has a crystal clear vision of where Florida needs to go next." Will Weatherford said, "I couldn't be more proud for our Chamber, and for our state, to have us endorse Adam Putnam."
