House Speaker Richard Corcoran said it took him 2.2 seconds to endorse Adam Putnam's gubernatorial bid after deciding against his own.

It took Putnam about a day to turn Corcoran's endorsement into a fundraising pitch, calling his newest Republican backer "one of our state's great conservatives" and "a principled conservative, family man and leader."

Then he asked for money, saying, "big-money liberals are already doing everything they can to take over Tallahassee this fall," noting investments that progressive billionaires George Soros and Tom Steyer have made in Florida.

Putnam is running against Rep. Ron DeSantis for the Republican nomination, who shrugged off the Corcoran endorsement as an "insider deal" between two denizens of Tallahassee.

I’ve known Richard for a while now. He’s a principled conservative, family man and leader. That’s why I’m honored to have his endorsement.
