Winner and loser of the week in Florida politics

If huskies could vote, Adam Putnam would be in trouble

Winner of the week
Gwen Graham. The Buzz among Democrats is that billionaire 2010 U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Greene of Palm Beach is all but certain to jump into the Democratic gubernatorial primary. Meanwhile, 2016 U.S. Senate candidate Patrick Murphy continues to look seriously at doing the same. Already running are Andrew Gillum, Chris King, and Philip Levine. Being the only woman running against three or four or five other men is a very nice spot to have when most Florida voters are female.

Loser of the week
Adam Putnam. The agriculture commissioner has not had a tough race in two decades, and there is valid evidence to wonder if he's ready for the big leagues. Last week he had to cancel a fundraising reception at the home of a supporter who had once been videotaped repeatedly shooting two pet huskies who entered a cow pasture. A quick Google search of the fellow's name would have saved a big distraction, and a dash of common sense would have prevented team Putnam from dismissing the dog shooting as no biggie, as the campaign did initially.
