Winner of the week

Philip Levine. The wealthy Miami Beach businessman is on the cusp of leaving his Democratic gubernatorial primary rivals in the dust , polls indicate. But Levine needs to check his swaggering ego, which was on full display during Saturday night's televised debate. Otherwise he may antagonize big swaths of the primary electorate, as he did with a big chunk of the debate hall crowd.

Loser of the week

Adam Putnam. It's hard enough to figure out what an agriculture commissioner does all day to earn $130,000 salary. That Adam Putnam botched one of the only accomplishments as commissioner he routinely touts on the gubernatorial campaign trail — improving the concealed weapons permitting process — is even harder to grasp.
