Rick Scott's latest TV ad portrays Bill Nelson as refusing to meet with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, but Nelson tried to sit down this week.

Nelson had offered to meet with Kavanaugh on Wednesday, his office said, but the nominee's staff said he was not available and may not be available until after the confirmation hearings begin Sept. 4.

Still, Nelson has sent signals he will oppose Kavanaugh.

On July 2, before President Trump named his pick, Nelson said he would vote against anyone who could lead the court to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Nelson later issued a careful statement saying he'd review the Kavanaugh's record and wanted to sit down with him, even as his campaign fired off a fundraising solicitation to stop "another right-wing extremist on the Supreme Court."
