Rick Scott remains estranged from President Donald Trump but Mike Pence will do.

The vice president will campaign in Florida tomorrow for Scott, indicating a strategy to rally a base still passionate about Trump but minimize alienating voters who are turned off by the controversies churning out of Washington.

Pence will speak at a lunch and fundraiser for Scott's Senate campaign in Orlando. Then he'll go to the almighty Villages for a dinner fundraiser for Scott, according to the White House.

The visit coincides with a GOP unity rally to be held Thursday morning in Orlando, with Scott, Ron DeSantis and other top Republicans.

We asked Scott last week if he would like Trump to campaign for him.

"I want everybody that believes in what I'm going to do to come help me win," Scott replied.

Pressed again — clearly Trump believes in him and recently tweeted his support — Scott repeated his comment, with a smile.
