Florida Rep. Jeanette Nuñez in 2016 tweeted that Donald Trump was the "biggest con-man there is" and accused him of being a supporter of the Ku Klux Klan.
Flash forward to Thursday morning and Nunez is now the running mate of Republican governor nominee Rep. Ron DeSantis. And the Tweet is gone from Nuñez 's feed.
"The Tweet has been deleted," her account says.
But this is 2018 and the Internet never forgets.
Here's what the tweet said:
"Wake up Florida voters, Trump is the biggest con-man there is," Nuñez tweeted. "#nosubstance #anti-Israel #supportsKKK VOTE Marco Rubio #RUBIO.
And here's a screenshot:
Nuñez, as noted in her Tweet, was a staunch supporter of Sen. Marco Rubio's failed campaign for president. They're both Miami-area Republicans.
Her past harsh criticism of Trump is notable because DeSantis won the nomination largely on the endorsement of the president. In fact, DeSantis frequently accused his Republican rival, Adam Putnam, of not being a supporter of Trump.
In a debate, DeSantis pointed out that Putnam called Trump "vile." Putnam used the term in 2016 when referring to Trump bragging that he would kiss women and grab women by the genitals without their consent, caught on an Access Hollywood microphone.
