Winner: Rick Kriseman. The St. Petersburg mayor pushed Pinellas and Hillsborough counties and Tampa to bring back the Cross-Bay Ferry for another season despite a discouraging first year. But midway through the ferry’s second year, ridership is up significantly. Then on Friday, Kriseman announced that he plans to remove five commissioners from the St. Petersburg Housing Authority after the Tampa Bay Times revealed they approved a pay hike for the agency CEO without reviewing his evaluation. During Saturday’s annual address, Kriseman got a standing ovation. If that weren’t enough, no sewage leaked either (as far as we know).

Losers: Other Tampa Bay mayors. Let’s see. Temple Terrace Mayor Mel Jurado’s academic credentials were condemned during Tuesday’s City Council meeting. Later in the week, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn’s Twitter account was hacked. Then, Port Richey Mayor Dale Massad was arrested Thursday when he shot at deputies who raided his house, prompting Gov. Ron DeSantis to suspend him from office the next day.
