Hillsborough Democrats raise money on Spring Fling event

The virtual fundraiser featured U.S. Rep. Val Demings, D-Orlando.

The Hillsborough Democratic Party says it grossed $66,321, and netted more than $60,000, with its Spring Fling event last weekend, which party Executive Director Mark Hanisee said is a record for the Dems’ annual spring fundraiser.

The virtual fundraiser, which featured U.S. Rep. Val Demings, D-Orlando, a potential running mate for Joe Biden, was held on the virtual networking service Lunchpool. It drew 505 ticket sales at $46 each, plus sponsorships, he said.

Among the sponsors: Nicole DeBartolo, a devoted Democrat and wife of Republican Sheriff Chad Chronister, was one of two $5,000 “title sponsors” with four virtual “tables” at the event.
