Tampa Bay Times 2020 primary election voting guide: Scroll here for local races

The Aug. 18 primary ballot includes races for school board, county commission, sheriff, and other major offices.

Tampa Bay residents are already voting by mail to cast ballots on dozens of races, some of which that will be decided by Aug. 18 primary.

Although there aren’t any major statewide races on this year’s ballot, there will be a number of key local races, including school board races, county commission and key constitutional offices like tax collector, sheriff and clerk of court.

While fears of the pandemic will encourage more voters than ever to vote by mail, elections officials are planning more early voting sites.

Here now are summaries of those races, including bios of the candidates and their stances on a variety of issues.

Scroll or swipe left and right to see all the candidates in each race, and hide any you don’t want to see by tapping the button with their name. For best results, use a modern browser such as Chrome or Safari.
