The way people feel about Tampa International Airport can sometimes border on a cult-like love.

In fact, when Reddit users were asked for their favorite spot in Tampa, one even went so far as to say that it was Tampa Airport. Yes, the airport, a place most people only go to as an obligation.

One Redditor's response to their favorite place in Tampa: Tampa International Airport.

Last year, when the Wall Street Journal issued a ranking of some of the top U.S. airports, quite a few people were upset that Tampa International did not make the list. It later turned out that Tampa wasn’t even eligible since the list only analyzed the country’s 20 most populated airports.

The airport has been a haven not just for travelers but for those who love planes and the Tampa Bay area. A Times story followed a pair of plane-spotters who spent time documenting the flights that came in and out of Tampa, snapshotting the nuances of their travels.

The airport also has a prodigious social media account that is, well, somewhat aware of its own fame.

So now we turn to you, Tampa Bay, to say just what is it that makes Tampa International Airport so popular? Is it simply a fair bit of nostalgia on our part? Is there something specific and tangible about the airport that makes it an enjoyable place to quite a number of you? Or is this whole phenomenon overrated and simply the view of a vocal few?

Leave us a response in the comments. We want to know your theories! We want to hear your stories!
