DEVELOPING: After losing Friday's game with the tying run thrown out at the plate, the Rays take on the AL East contending Orioles again tonight at 7:05.

RHP Matt Andriese will start for the Rays, with RHP Chase Whitley, in his second big-league outing following his return from Tommy John surgery slated for work in relief. The Orioles are starting ace Chris Tillman.

Per research by the Rays, Friday was only the second third time in team history they lost a game with the tying run thrown out at the plate. One The other was May 28, 2006, at Boston, when Joey Gathright was gunned down by Willie Harris trying to score on a Carl Crawford single and they lost 5-4. The other was Aug. 31, 2012 when Elliot Johnson was thrown out in Toronto.

On Friday, Mikie Mahtook was thrown out trying to score from first on Alexei Ramirez's single to left on throws from Michael Bourn and Manny Machado.
