UPDATE, 5:54: Kiermaier said his thumb started to feel better last night and he will use a pad on it when he swings today, and is swiitching to a thinner handled bat to accomodate it. ... Casali said he feels fine, no ligering effects from getting hit by the bat. ... OF Desmond Jennings (knee) is slated to play tonight and Wednesday for Class A Charlotte, then if all goes well rejoin the Rays for the road trip that starts Friday in Texas. .. Smyly should be good to go after tonight's gane assuming all goes well as well. ... Alex Cobb was in the clubhouse, saying his rehab in Arizona from Tommy John surgery is goign well and he fully expected to be pitching in the majors for the Rays by next August.

DEVELOPING: Following a day off after taking two of three from the Mets, the Rays host another NL East opponent, opening a two-game series with the Braves tonight at the Trop.

CF Kevin Kiermaier, who left Saturday's game and was limited on Sunday, is back in the lineup. So is C Curt Casali, who sat out Sunday after being hit on the side of the head by a bat in Saturday's game.

RHP Erasmo Ramirez is starting for the Rays, rookie RHP Williams Perez for the Braves.
