Former USF lineman charged with firing a gun on campus reaches plea agreement

Former USF backup OL Benjamin Knox, one of two Bulls arrested on charges of firing a gun on campus last October, will serve five years' probation as part of a plea agreement.

The sentence was issued Monday in Hillsborough County circuit court. Knox, who pleaded no contest, also must perform 300 hours of community service, forfeit his firearm and undergo random drug tests.

Knox was suspended from all team activities following the Oct. 11 incident, hours after the Bulls' 45-24 home victory against Syracuse. He reportedly has transferred to Independence (Kan.) Community College.

CB Lamar Robbins, the other player charged, has been reinstated to the team. Robbins wasn't prosecuted, and USF's Student Rights and Responsibilities Board took no action against him.
