SPRING HILL — One person was airlifted and five other people were seriously injured Tuesday afternoon after a car jumped a curb and crashed into a Beef 'O' Brady's restaurant, Hernando County Fire and Rescue said.
Officials said they arrived at 14387 Spring Hill Drive around 1:30 p.m. to find a sedan through the front window.
A 63-year-old female lost control of her Saturn while traveling eastbound on Spring Hill Drive. The car then traveled across the median and into the other lanes. As the Saturn left the roadway and traveled through a flower bed, it also side-swiped a Ford F-150 towing a trailer that was leaving the The Barclay Crossing Shopping Center.
As the woman entered the shopping center parking lot, she hit a parked Hyundai Elantra before barreling through the front window of the restaurant and striking five patrons.
One person was flown in a helicopter to Bayonet Point Hospital Trauma Center while two others were transported there by ambulance. Another person was transported to Oak Hill Hospital and two were sent to Bayfront Hospital Brooksville, officials said.
Those injured were the driver of the sedan and five people sitting inside and outside the restaurant.
The incident is under investigation by the Hernando County Sheriffs Office and Florida Highway Patrol.
