Hernando County churches offer vacation Bible school

Several local churches have coupled summer fun with Bible teaching in planning vacation Bible school programs for children throughout the county starting in June. Programs are free and include music, lessons from Scripture, crafts, skits and snacks.

First Baptist Church of Brooksville, 420 Howell Ave., is promising adventure with "In the Wild: Amazing Encounters with Jesus" for children age 3 through sixth grade from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 3-7. Children will seek exotic animals, such as polar bears, penguins and crocodiles, while learning about real-life encounters with Jesus in the Scriptures. The week will end with a Family Celebration Night that includes dinner, inflatables, giveaways and a review of the week by the children. Spring Hill Baptist Church, 3140 Mariner Blvd., will offer "Giddy Up Junction" to "cowboys" and "cowgirls" ages 3 through sixth grade from 8:30 p.m. to noon June 3-7. Register at springhillbc.com Call (352) 683-5685.

Fellowship Community Church, 11250 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, will offer "The Incredible Race: One Family, One Race, One Savior," to children in kindergarten through fifth grade from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 10-14. Register children at fellowshipspringhill.org. Call (352) 686-4612.

Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 200 Mount Fair Ave., Brooksville, will host "In the Wild: Amazing Encounters with Jesus" from 9 a.m. to noon June 10-14 for children who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade. Register at faithepc.net. Call (352) 796-4969.

Calvary Chapel Hernando, 5155 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, will offer "Game On," including dinner, to children from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade from 6 to 9 p.m. June 10-14. Northcliffe Baptist Church, 10515 Northcliffe Blvd., Spring Hill, will offer "In the Wild: Amazing Encounters with Jesus" to children ages 3 through completion of fifth grade from 8:30 a.m. to noon June 17-21. Brooksville First United Methodist Church, 109 S Broad St., will offer "ROAR: Life is Wild – God is Good," to children in kindergarten through fifth grade from 9 a.m. to noon June 24-28. Register first through fifth grades at fumcbrooksville.com or call (352) 796-3363 for preschool registration. Space is limited. A $15 donation is welcome, but not required.

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 14236 County Line Road, Hudson, will offer "Adventure to Holy Land," to children of all ages from 6 to 8 p.m. July 11 and 12. There will be a group trip to Holy Land Experience in Orlando from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 13 that costs $40 for adults, $25 ages 5 to 17 and free for age 4 and under. • Christian Life Assembly of God, 13065 Jacqueline Road, Brooksville, will host "Kid's Krusade" for children age 4 to 12 from August 4-7.
