Hernando deputies: Man who beat woman arrested for attempted murder

BROOKSVILLE — A 29-year-old man was arrested Sunday on charges of attempted murder after severely beating a woman, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Timothy Kydd was arrested in Marion County, deputies said. They did not release more details about his arrest.

The victim, whose name was not released by deputies, recently met Kydd.

Then just before 9:30 a.m., deputies were sent to the Freedom Gardens Apartments at 932 Freedom Way to investigate a report of an assault.

They found a woman suffering from "significant injuries," the agency said. She was taken to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment and was reported to be in critical condition late Saturday.

Deputies determined that Kydd assaulted her, then fled the apartment complex just before they arrived.
