Mold prompts temporary closure of fire station

Hernando County Fire Rescue Station #4
Published Dec. 3, 2018

SPRING HILL — Hernando County had to close Fire Rescue Station 4 on Monday when mold was found in the walls of the building at 5083 Mariner Boulevard.

A wet spot was found in the drywall recently, and a testing company examined it. Tests showed mold, according to Virginia Singer, county spokeswoman. It was unclear if the water came from a roof or pipe leak.

Officials were working on a plan to house the firefighters and equipment normally stationed there until the department can bring in a modular building to provide housing, she said. There is no time frame for how long it might take to fix the problem.
