YBOR CITY— Al's Finger Licking Good Bar-B-Que has been a fixure in Tampa's barbecue scene during its 10 years of operation, earning recognition for its old-fashioned, Tennessee-style, smoked barbecue.
Al Reynolds and his wife Jacqueline first started the business in 2003 out of a concession stand. In 2009, the couple opened their popular Ybor barbecue restaurant, located at 1609 Angel Oliva Sr. St.Now, with some experience under their belt, the couple has open a second location, again in Ybor, at 2302 E 7th Ave.
But this time it's a little different.
It's still "finger licking good" and everything is still made from scratch, but the restaurant is called Al's Finger Licking Good Soul Food, serving dishes like fried pork chops, oxtails, baked chicken, pot roast and more.
"They're two different concepts and we wanted our customers to have the best of both worlds," Jacqueline Reynolds said.
"We were pretty much set on Ybor because I have always said we needed a presence on 7th," she said. "Sometimes we get lost because we're not that visible."Since opening on Dec. 15th, Reynolds said business has been picking up quite well.
Entrees and daily specials range from $10-$15 and Al's Finger Licking Good Soul Food operates from 11:30 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from noon to 6 p.m.on Sunday.
