The Carrollwood Area Business Association (CABA) will host its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 8) at Northdale Park, 15550 Spring Pine Drive. The event is sponsored by CABA, Northdale Civic Association and Northdale Park.
The Holiday tree lighting will take place at 7:15 p.m. with a movie showing of The Polar Express afterwards. Attendees can bring a lawn chair and blanket to relax under the stars with family and friends.
Free nachos, popcorn, hot cocoa and Grinch Punch will be available while supplies last. Attendees can also bring an unwrapped toy to benefit the local charity Hope Children's Home according to Dena Thompson-Estes, CABA director of community outreach.
"Please join us in the festivities and help our toy drive," Thompson-Estes said.
Most requested items for unwrapped toys include Baby and toddler books, baby dolls, building blocks, development toys and toy cars for infants and toddlers. For youth and teens toys requested include arts and crafts supplies, bikes, scooters, skateboards, board games, cards, puzzles, books, journals, clothing and shoes.
Attendees can also bring dolls, action figures, gift cards, headphones, speakers, helmets, LEGO sets, new or refurbished electronics, remote control vehicles, sports equipment and tablets to give to youth and teens.
Vendors tables will be offered for $50 to help promote local businesses.
